Ohio Pipe Insulation Requirements.

Outline:
Describe the intent and application for pipe insulation in the 2012 IECC and 2017 OHIO Mechanical, Plumbing, Residential and Building codes. Course will review pipe insulation for Commercial & Residential requirements for Hot/cold water, refrigeration and low-temperature piping and HVAC applications.

The information presented will allow for the application of these code requirements to design, plan review, and/or inspection. Participants will be able to apply key code sections to aid in administration and enforcement while performing their jobs.


Purpose /Objective
: Locating pipe insulation requirements in the Current OHIO codes including Energy, Plumbing, Mechanical, Residential and Building.

Understanding what piping is mandatory that must be insulated, and what exceptions. Hot water Performance and prescriptive insulation requirements. Understanding R values and

Learning the difference R Value requirements. How to determine Commercial pipe insulation wall thickness. Fire performance standard and plenum requirements.

What is insulation Permanence? What is a Perm? ASTM E96 Perm ratings. Protection requirements for exposed outdoor pipe insulation. Accessibility pipe insulation new standard requirements.

Attendee will be able to identify pipe insulation requirements and exceptions in the Ohio Codes. Attendee shall be able to determine R values and required Permanence.
