Welcome to the official website of the Central Ohio Code Officials Association (COCOA).


As a dedicated professional organization, COCOA is committed to promoting public health, safety, and welfare through the uniform and fair enforcement of building, zoning, and property maintenance codes in the Central Ohio region.


Our Mission and Vision

COCOA serves as a vital resource for code enforcement professionals, local government agencies, and the community. Our primary goals include:

  • Professional Development: Providing high-quality, job-related training and support for members, including International Code Council (ICC) certifications.
  • Code Consistency: Working to ensure consistency in code application and methodology across Central Ohio jurisdictions.
  • Community Safety: Enhancing the quality of life for residents by maintaining safe and desirable living and working environments.
  • Collaboration: Building strong relationships between code officials, designers, contractors, and local government bodies to resolve issues efficiently.

Rick Dostal of SEOBD Southeast Ohio Building Department was recognized for his outstanding service and exemplary leadership of his staff. Congratulations Rick!

PRESIDENTIAL HONOREE


Jack Derr, AIA was honored at the December 10th COCOA Annual meeting. Mr. Derr has brought new life into the training opportunities being organized and offered to our membership. Members had access to 38 hours of continuing education hours under Mr. Derr's dedication. Thank you Jack! Keep up the good work!

PRESIDENTIAL HONOREE


Tim Schaffner has provided COCOA with years of his expertise and dedication. Even after he has served as President and Past President, Mr. Schaffner is a constant resource to the Board of Directors.
