2024 Hazard Mitigation Assistance Grant Application Information

BRIC and FMA Application Time-Line

1/31/2025 - If you are considering developing a sub-application for Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) or Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) programs, please complete the HMA Pre-application Form and email it to saferryman@dps.ohio.gov by 1/31/2025.

2/28/2025 - Draft applications must be submitted to Ohio EMA thru the FEMA GO online application system by February 28, 2025. Ohio EMA will review the applications and work with applicants to fine tune them before submitting the applications to FEMA. Applicants must be available to coordinate with Ohio EMA staff for the period between 1/31/25 and 04/18/25.

03/28/25 - Final applications are due to Ohio EMA thru FEMA GO by March 28, 2025. This will allow time for the state to rank the applications and submit the final application package to FEMA by 4/11/25.

This is a new round and not part of the amount BBS secured. This new round is meant for Building Departments to directly apply to Ohio EMA to use for funding new objectives that have not already been budgeted for, started or contracts solicited/executed.

The Ohio Building Officials Association (OBOA) is a professional association founded in 1961 to promote Life Safety through building codes with improved responsiveness and consistency in enforcement.

OBOA Chapters

When you join one of OBOA’s ten component chapters you also are a member of OBOA. The component chapters provide continuing education and local professional interactions. OBOA has since 1961 represented the code enforcement community’s interests at Ohio Board of Building Standards, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Ohio General Assembly. At OBOA’s request during the 1970’s the State adopted the Building Officials’ and Code Administrators International Inc’s National Building and Mechanical Codes. OBOA’s Residential Code of Ohio was adopted by the State as the code for industrialized units (modular homes) and the was the base document when the State in 2004 adopted a one-, two- and three-family code for conventional construction. OBOA also represents the Ohio code enforcement community’s interests at the International Code Council (ICC) such as in the ICC code development process.

International Code Council Chapter

ICC Chapters are designated as Regional, State, Local, Professional, Student or Global depending on the geographical area they serve and the nature of their membership. The States which comprise Region V consists of Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan. OBOA is a ICC Chapter for the State of Ohio and consists of 10 component Chapters. When you join your local Chapter you become a member of OBOA and Region V, including the benefits thereof.
